“Be obsessively curious! There's a never ending web of information and the more you know the better you'll be at this job.”

What do you do and what led you to this career?

I'm an architect and interior designer. I run a design studio based in Miami Beach called Light On White. We work on projects all over the world, from New York to the South of France. I've always been creative, constantly drawing and deeply obsessed with anything related to design and art.

What are the names and ages of your children?

Leo and Noa, who are 5 month old twins!

What has been your biggest career achievement thus far?

I'm extremely proud to be running a growing design studio on my own terms. In just the 3 years since I started the company, we've worked on over 30 projects spread over 6 countries. I love every aspect of my work, but more than anything, I love the excitement that comes from being an entrepreneur.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a mother?

How much love you can have for these little humans that are now at the center of your life, and how much love they have for you. As a mother of twins, it has also been really cool to see how different their personalities are since day one.

And what is the most challenging?

The consequences of balancing family time and work. I want to spend as much time as possible with my babies, but I'm also conscious that motherhood doesn't completely take-over who I am as a person.

What is your best advice for someone new to your industry?

Be obsessively curious! Absorb as much as you can, learn from other designers, the history of architecture and design, and contractors, manufacturers and artisans. It's a never ending web of information and the more you know the better you'll be at this job. And be ready to work in a very hands-on way, this job is for pro-active get-it-done types!

What is your best advice for a new mother?

Hire help. You want to enjoy every moment that you spend with your children and being exhausted is not conducive to enjoying motherhood. Also, swaddling!

What's next for you? Do you have any exciting projects coming up?

So many exciting projects on the horizon! We're designing a 10,000 sq ft beachfront private residence on Fisher Island, which is a complete new build and first of it's kind on the island. We're also designing the interiors of an 82' catamaran, featuring a swimming pool at the bow and a zen garden at the back. My husband, who is also a designer, and I are also working on a capsule collection of pieces for Light On White that we're hoping to launch at the end of this year.
