“We can be our worst enemy. Trust what feels right. Be honest with yourself and others. Be kind to yourself!”

What do you do and what led you to this career?

I am the Vice President of Sales for an emerging women's wear label called Misa Los Angeles. After years of working in the retail and buying world, as well as freelance experience with stylists, I found myself in the wholesale side of the fashion industry. I had the privilege of working with new brands, as well as brands working to reinvent themselves. Three years ago I relocated to LA from NYC to work with a designer on a re-brand after 15 years with her previous label.

What are the names and ages of your little ones?

Harlen, who is 15 months old.

What has been your biggest career achievement thus far?

I am incredibly fortunate to have connected with my current opportunity. I was able to take a brand that was on a rapid decline and change the perspective of a designer who found herself stuck. After 3 years of continuing to evolve the brand, it is now in an amazing place in the market. We are fortunate enough to have the opportunities to design, sample, and produce Los Angeles made product for a an attainable and comparable price point.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a mother?

Being a working mom can be tough. After a hard day at the office coming home to my son who looks at me with no judgement has been amazing. To him I am PERFECT. The most rewarding aspect of being a mother is teaching him how strong woman are. I can't wait to raise a man who is respectful and supportive of women!

And what is the most challenging?

Work/Life Balance and having enough energy at the end of the day. I have always struggled with being able to disconnect with my work.

What is your best advice for someone new to your industry?

Set boundaries and lean in/on others around you! Being surrounded by an amazing network of like minded women has been amazing.

What is your best advice for a new mother?

We can be our worst enemy. Trust what feels right. Be honest with yourself and others. Be kind to yourself!

What's next for you? Do you have any exciting projects coming up?

The brand is going through a transition. As we continue to elevate and move forward, we have to stay true to who we are and the formula of success we have had. I am excited about the future. Within my own career path, I am excited to be a part of this network. I am excited about connection, and hope to be a resource for others while continuing to learn through this community!
