WHAT DO YOU DO AND WHAT LED YOU TO THIS CAREER?

I fell into baking cakes after making my son’s birthday cake in the midst of the pandemic. My event business had taken a hit and I spent most of my time experimenting in the kitchen. After making a few friends’ cakes, I started to really develop a style and love for decorating and decided to dive in head first into the custom cake world.

I love that starting Mama Soul has given me a way of staying creative while still having the flexibility to be on my own schedule. If you would have asked me six months ago if I'd be making cakes for celebrities and high level executives, I'd be like...girl bye. I followed my instinct and the road that was being built in front of me and just went with the flow. Now I'm slanging cakes like a boss and I'm so grateful and appreciative for the people who have supported my journey in this short time frame.

WHAT ARE THE NAMES AND AGES OF YOUR CHILDREN?

Soul is two and a half.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CAREER ACHIEVEMENT THUS FAR?

Being able to just have consistent orders and the freedom to be creative.

WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF BEING A MOTHER?

Seeing how my son is developing his own personality and how freaking smart he is!

AND WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING?

The tantrums — lord help me.

WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR SOMEONE NEW TO YOUR INDUSTRY?

I think that if you have the tools to get your work out there, do it! Don't ever stop creating!

WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR A NEW MOTHER?

Always make time for you! Your kids will want to see their mom loving herself and being a boss at whatever it is that she's into.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU? DO YOU HAVE ANY EXCITING PROJECTS COMING UP?
