Jacky Velasquez
Jacky Velsaquez is a first generation American; Both her parents were born and raised in Guatemala and came to the U.S. in their 20s. Though she herself born and raised in Los Angeles, she grew up in a Latin American, and spoke Spanish as her first language. Jacky's mother was a full-time working woman and mother of three who got her start as a factory worker and eventually made her way up to a career in the financial branch of the fashion industry. Through example of her mother, Jacky learned to be a strong, independent, hardworking, and loving woman.
At a very young age, Jacky witnessed her father struggling through a language barrier to pass his dental state board exam, while her mother worked full-time at a plastic bag factory. They were both hard workers and never gave up on their idea of the American dream. Over the last couple decades, both parents made great strides in their careers and achieved success in their various industries. Inspired by the drive and persistence she saw in them, Jacky is now proud to act as a representative of Latinx community for the diverse platform of mothers that is Fashion Mamas.
